[These are things she has to think about, okok. The Magic Crest in her arm is a powerful tool, but it's finnicky when it comes to other magics, especially one that would have such a physical effect. If Kirei were here, he might chide her for taking an unnecessary risk — and thinking that makes her twice as eager to try it anyways.
She's 95% sure she'll be fine, but it's important to consider that 5%. As well as the fact that that doesn't mean it probably won't hurt a lot.
But. That's what her preparations are for. Heading for the infirmary exit, she smiles and gives Zaveid a thumbs up.]
It will be better than mine, at least. [She does have a roommate. She'd better go explain why he'll have the room to himself for a few days.] See you then.
Zaveid is in his room when she gets there, sitting next to the bed with a plate of leftovers that he isn't touching, and another that he's rather happily working through. ]
Want any?
[ ... Its not like he grabbed a good balanced plate because he knew she wouldn't be able to eat for a while, okay. ]
[No indoor mountainscapes this time means it's less of a trek to walk over to him. Rin drops a bag she brought near the empty bad on her way over, eyes lighting up seeing the plate.]
I won't say no.
[Nope! She'll quite happily take that, thank you.]
[ He liked the mountain, even if it kinda hurt too. Either way, the standard room is.. a lot more easily navigable. Lot more comfortable for humans too.
It's also kinda empty, but, well. His pokemon are being watched by someone else, and he doesn't collect much stuff.
So he'll just sit by until she's ready to begin, finishing off his own plate. ]
[Rin eats with gusto, but... Lady-like. Yes. Lady-like gusto. She has mad skills like that. With a few bites left of some delicious meat, she spears a piece on her fork.]
Not much for dinner conversation, huh? Or are you nervous?
[Oh. She had just been teasing him; hadn't expected him to speak seriously. Rin listens to him a bit more carefully; chews thoughtfully and only speaks after he's finished.]
Its harder than houses. [ To break into. Look, he's a dumb child and he might have ran with pirates for a while. Just maybe. ]
Wasn't something for me. Wind and staying put to something and all that. [ Although, the way his eyes stay on his plate... He might not be entirely honest with that. ]
[The look on his face could only be described as nostalgic; heavy. They've discussed before, what this means to him.]
I see. [Is all she says for a moment. Because even if that's something she doesn't want to touch, it feels wrong too, to interrupt whatever he's working out.]
That reminds me, though. [Dabbing at her mouth with a napkin, she speaks up again a few moments later.[ I still need to break our pact first.
[ Probably sting, be nasty suddenly he's back to being exhausted, he can fill in a few endings there.
He just salutes her with the gun, finger well away from the trigger. ]
Seigfreid? Don't worry, [ And its a wrist flick and the gun pops open, and he shakes it to prove there's nothing in the chamber. ] s'not loaded or anything.
[ .... Not that it has to be for this. Hmn, how she jumped- ]
M'gunna use it, its how I can break pacts without the prime lord being involved. [ ... How he's gunna use it, well.. She can probably figure it out. At least part of the way. ]
Only instead of a pretty lady showing up, its just a lot of green light. The mana it fires will basically shred the pact. [ Shrug? Look, he does this a lot more - with bullets even - to himself than you'd think... ]
[Believe it or not, so has she. Kirei thought it best she be accustomed to fighting styles a mage might find unorthodox. First-hand.
Glancing between the gun and him, Rin seems to relax, back to her usual self. The look in her eyes is trusting, at least that Zaveid knows what he's doing. She nods.]
Clear your end and, [ another practiced movement, the gun is flicked and clicks back together and he holds it just loosely in his hand, pointed toward the floor. ]
[She nods and bows her head, hands raised to her chest. Just concentrate inward. She can visualize it in their head, that connection between them. It's new and paper thin, but not weak. No, something that fragile would never work as a conduit. Rin designed it as she would have any other, so it will sting like any other when she tears apart the tether.
Zaveid will know when it happens. Rin cuts it apart quick, like tearing off a band-aid. Only unlike a real band-aid, stuck just to knees or elbows, this one feels like it's being ripped from all over. Rin winces at the sting, but the deed is done in a flash as soon as that.]
[ Zaveid winces, because not only is it like... someone zapped him, or right where a sunburn hurts, but yeah, he can also tell he wasn't getting anymore mana, and...
He just rubs his eyes, blinking. Well, the sting helped keep him awake. So he just raises his arm and without further a do, points the gun at his head and fires.
There is indeed a burst of green light - despite it not being loaded, his head and arm rock in opposite directions with the force of it. She's probably happy she didn't get a chance of feeling that.
Zaveid just shakes his head out and shoves puts his gun next to his plate, getting up and stepping over to her. ]
You're agreeing to be my Shepherd, to bear the burden of a seraph and be my vessel? [ He's a little.. oddly distant sounding. Using Seigfreid does a little more to him than he'd really said, but, well. He's on his feet and pact free, feeling the press of the inescapable malevolence that comes with being around a bunch of humans. ]
[It's more painful watching that then it is having pact torn, but Rin bears no grimace and makes herself watch it all. And when he approaches her...
You're agreeing to be my Shepherd, to bear the burden of a seraph and be my vessel?
There aren't words. It feels like there should be; a practiced oath she can recite, just as she has so many others. In the world of magic, words hold power, and for that reason are chosen carefully. For rituals especially.
Perhaps this one doesn't work that way, but it feels like a test all the same, and she should rise to it. Jaw set, she doesn't wait another second, and stands as well.]
I hereby swear it as the Head of the House of Tohsaka, and will not falter.
[A dignified ceremony ended on something so simple and casual? She should be aghast, but no. She just feels a little silly for giving it so much thought. They are in a dingy bedroom, surrounded by dirty dishes and scraps of food. Yeah, that feels about right.
Still, she knows she won't forget the sight of it, that feeling she caught a flicker of something a human could never hope to catch with their fingers. And knowing that, Rin extends her palm regardless.]
[ If she wanted dignity, she should have gotten Lailah or Mikleo. Of course, then this whole thing probably wouldn't have been a thing.
But he takes her hand and closes his eyes, focusing on ... something.
But then there's a rush of the wind about them, and a ring of ornate magic, swirls almost in the shape of seordpoints edging out, but they're a little shorter and stockier - daggers - sliding down over her.
With it comes a rush of power - perhaps familiar as wind - that doesn't quite settle as much as follows how her body moves. Wind, stay still?
Zaveid peeks at her, as if trying to tell if that worked, or that she's okay. ]

[ Because he might as well, right? ]

[Because she will, no ifs here. Just telling herself that already makes her feel more confident, and perking right back up.]
You don't have a roommate, right? Let's meet up in your room in that case.

... Yeah, I doubt I could manage to store them well enough that they'd still be tasty.
[ Zaveid tilts his head. ]
... Don't think it's changed, so yep, sounds like a place that'll work.

Complicated. Why talk when I can put something in my mouth instead? [ He follows that up with a forkful of mixed potatoes and stuffing. ]
Never been the prime lord before. Never broken myself out of a pact before. [ He shrugs, arms wide as he shakes his head. ]
Not that its the new stuff bugging me. [ It's something unsaid about that phrasing. Broken himself out of a pact- ]

[ Zaveid sets aside his plate, and reaches behind him to pick up that black and silver gun.
.... sorry did he mention how he was going to break his pact? ]
